Course Background
As more and more users use the Internet, demanding new applications, providing trustworthiness for data communications becomes more crucial. Varied threats exist in both perimeter security and data security layers. It is crucial that we have more expertise to handle the growing concerns related to information security related frauds. The course aims to provide a solid foundation to enlighten the finer aspects of vulnerabilities, threats and attacks and provide hands-on experience in setting up a trustworthy network environment for the users. The core modules of this program are tailored to orient the participant towards the essential aspects of information security such as cryptography and computer networks, and to provide specific emphasis towards the detailed practical aspects of network security methods and aspects related to security analysis and management. In addition to this, the course also offers an advanced intensive elective module that would enable the participant to apply and experience the real-world security challenges in specific sub-domains.

B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc./B.C.A.or equivalent or a higher degree
Engineering Degree.
(all the above qualifications in the area of Electrical Sciences*/ Computer Sciences*).
*Electrical/Electronics/Communications/Telecommunications/Instrumentation & control - Engineering
*Computer Science/ information Technology /Information Science/Computational Science /Computer Applications.
AND Must have a valid score in the GA and CC paper of the "Eligibility-Cum-Ranking-Test"
Pre-requisites:
• Should have undergone courses on Programming and Computer Networks and/or Data communication
Course commences:
Due to certain unforeseen circumstances, C-DAC Mumbai's PGDIS-September 2010 course batches at Juhu and Bengaluru stand postponed to February-2011
Eligible candidates from the July 11, 2010 test may please take note of this. They are also informed that C-DAC Mumbai will consider their applications for the February-2011 course without having to appear for the CST-2011 exam. However they will be called to appear for a personal interview just before the PGDIS February 2011 course commencement.

Organization of the Course:
The course is organized into three core modules and one elective module. Each module consists of several units. Each lecture session will be followed by lab sessions, where the students are provided with hands-on-training experience, on various networking tools. There will be evaluations for every module, and the students are expected to score atleast 50% to clear the module. Successful clearing of all the modules, including the elective is a must to secure the certification.
C-DAC possesses expertise in the following areas:-
• Intrusion Detection and Prevention System
• Cryptography Key Management System
• Critical Infrastructure Protection
which is used by various Government and defence organisations.
Course Fees:
Rs. 30,000/- payable by a Demand Draft by a crossed demand draft in favour of “C-DAC, Mumbai or C-DAC, Bengaluru” payable at Mumbai or Bengaluru.
